Libido- Where Did It Go?

After menopause your sex life is over.  Wrong!

A recent survey was done by the AARP American Association of Retired Persons. It found that many people find much enjoyment in their sex lives, some even more than ever. According to the survey, almost two-thirds of men and over half of women that are 45 and older say they are very satisfied with their sex lives.

Every woman experiences something different. Some have a marked decrease in desire. Others feel more free and interested in sex. It is important to talk with your partner and me, if intercourse is painful.

Vaginal dryness

Some women experience vaginal dryness due to the fall of estrogen levels. The vaginal tissue becomes thinner and less elastic.  There are treatments available to decrease, and frequently eliminate, this problem.

Fixes for a Stalled Sex Life

As women age, they are two to three times more likely than men to be affected by a decrease in sexual desire. Low sexual desire is especially common in relationships of long duration. This is not abnormal! Health problems (of either partner), medications, stress, relationship problems, and other aging issues may all contribute to the problem. Yet most of us consider sex to be an important aspect of our life and overall well-being.

Don’t stop. Continue sexual activity as long as you wish. Your age is not an issue. Sexual activity on a regular basis, with a partner or by self-stimulation, can help maintain vaginal elasticity and lubrication — which means better, more comfortable, more satisfying sex.
