Janell Niemann-Ross

Janell RossJanell Niemann-Ross, RN, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)

(Full Resume)

Janell got hooked on midwifery in the mid 80′s, when she taught pregnancy classes with an activist group trying to change birth practices in Casper, Wyoming (ie: getting dads into the birth rooms, eliminating routine procedures like episiotomies).  She had midwives for the births of her children and was primarily a stay-at-home Mom when they were young.

Once they were old enough to make their own lunches, she jumped at the chance to realize her long held dream of becoming a midwife. After completing her RN degree, she worked in a busy labor & delivery unit for five years while working on her Nurse Practitioner/ Certified Nurse Midwife degree. She graduated in June 2007 from Oregon Health and Science University. She loves being with birthing families and has received many accolades for her “calm, encouraging presence.”

Janell has traveled to Central America with Medical Teams International providing women’s health care and instructing health care promoters. She speaks some Spanish and her family has hosted fifteen international students.

Prior to nursing and midwifery, Janell used her Child Development and Family Life degree teaching preschool and parent education in a variety of settings.

Janell has been married to a very funny guy for 25+ years and they have two young-adult sons. Her hobbies include cooking scrumptious food, flitting from one art project to another, bicycling, reading and preparing for an empty nest.
