Aug 2007 – present   Certified Nurse Midwife, Pacific Midwifery Service, Vancouver, Washington.  Full Scope women’s health and midwifery practice.  We offer the option of vaginal births after cesarean, waterbirths for low risk moms and first assist with cesarean births.  Preceptor.  Basic Spanish speaker.

2003-2007  Labor and delivery staff RN, Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon.  OHSU is a tertiary care hospital with a diverse patient population and a full spectrum of maternity possibilities.  Providing compassionate, skilled care, I often elected to take “challenging families”.  I enjoyed assisting with water births and women who desire low intervention births, but also valued the times I “normalized” a high risk labor and delivery for families.  I’ve been a preceptor for many nursing students and new orienteer and create a positive and collaborative work environment through modeling mutual respect and effective communication.

I’m on the planning team for the Martha Browning Bryant memorial Lecture.  Martha was an exemplary midwife who was killed on the way home from a birth.  A lectureship in her memory is held each October.
